If you ever take note while walking around the campus, you tend to see strangers at different timings. I remember walking in to school at 9.45am one day and I saw this little kid standing outside E4 using the computer (free-usage to all) watching some Hong Kong drama.
I was taken aback because while it’s okay to stand and use the computer, he was probably standing the whole time just to watch that drama for probably four hours continuously? The best part here is that RP security guards did not chase him away, instead they allowed him to do his own thing as long he wasn’t disturbing anyone.
Almost everyday, I see many groups of dancers/hip-hoppers around the campus (especially outside the library) dancing to the beat and practicing for their competitions. Sometimes, my friends and I will just stand by and watch them because some of them can really groove to the music.
Also, RP welcomes the public during weekends to eat in our canteens. This might be a platform that RP is using to create publicity for itself and also selling the school. Secondary school students also frequently uses the library to do their projects and study.
It feels like RP isn’t solely for their own students, instead anyone can just come into the campus to study or do anything so long as they do not disrupt or destroy RP’s property. It is heart-warming to see RP open its arms to the community.

The feeling felt different while I was on my way to school this morning, it suddenly dawned upon me that today will be my last day in RP. Come to think of it, three years just flew by like that.
I have to admit that I’m going to miss a lot in RP. My Floorball friends whom have gone through thick and thin with me, my classmates, the school food, the sports complex and the breaks especially because it was the best time in school.
To my Floorball friends whom have gone through thick and thin with me, thank you for being there together and sticking by together as one throughout these three years. All of us have grown up and we have learnt to accept one another’s differences, I’m definitely going to miss you girls after RP and all the trainings that we had together.
To my DCID mates, it’s been two good years studying with you guys. Although it can be competitive at times and there might be conflict with one another, let’s give and take because we are such a small cohort. I’ll miss joking and laughing with you all, especially to 2008’s first semester of E66H and my FYP 2 teammates
I’m going to miss the Handmade Noodles stall in E1, the famous bubble tea stall in E1 or rather, everything about the E1 canteen because that’s my favorite canteen and not forgetting the Esplanade café that sells awesome Samosas and milkshakes.
The sports complex that feels like my second home has brought memories to me, it’s where I’ve made so many friends, gone through tough and good times there. I’ll miss everyone in Floorball and also supporting other IGs during competition period. After all we’re Team Republic.
To my facilitators in DCID/SHL, thank you for teaching me and guiding me, it’s been three years with this PBL system and if I ever get to study in a university, it feels like I have to start all over again because of the different study systems.
Goodbye RP, I’ll definitely miss you.
